1) Saputara (Dang)

Saputara is located in Dang District. Being a hill station, summers are fun to visit here. In cities where the temperature rises above 40 degrees Celsius, in Saputara the maximum temperature in summer is around 35°C, therefore you will feel it cooler than other places. There are many places worth visiting in Saputara. Like, here you will find many sightseeing places like Girmal Waterfall, Purna Wild Life Sanctuary, Mahal Eco Campsite, Saputara Lake, Waghai Botanical Garden, Gira Waterfall, Dawn Hill Station.

2) Devbhumi Dwarka

Everyone wants to go to the beach in summer. Gujarat has longest sea shore in India. Then how can one forget Dwarka’s Shivrajpur Beach and Okha Marhi Beach? Apart from that, you can also visit Piroton Island, Gaga Wild Life Sanctuary here. In Dwarka you can also visit religious temples along with sightseeing. Dwarkadhish Temple, Rukmani Devi Temple and Nageshwar Jyotiling, one of the 12 Jyotilings are also located here.

3) Gir National Park (Gir Somnath)

Gir National Park is located in Gir Somnath district. Gir National Park is home to Asiatic Lions. This forest spreads over 1412 sq km and is located on the road between Veraval and Junagadh. There is an opportunity to see lions and other wildlife and numerous species of birds. Entry to the sanctuary is by safari permit only. You have to book it online in advance. Some wildlife is seen during the summer season from October to June.

4) Pavagadh (Panchmahal)

Situated on the hill of Pavagadh is the famous temple of Mata Kali. Which is the oldest temple in this area. It was built around 10th or 11th century. Pilgrims come here from far and wide for darshan. To reach the temple on the peak, one has to walk about 5 kilometers through the forest area.

This is the best place for those who love to roam around in nature like forest area. A ropeway facility has been provided here for those who cannot walk or do not like to walk. Which takes you from the mid-way point to the summit. The temple has a huge fortification.

The idol of Kalika Mata in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple has only a head and mouth. Which is painted in red color. The temple is open from early morning to late night. So devotees can have darshan here at any time. Here the machi haveli is available as a rest house for pilgrims.

5) Kutch

Since Kutch is called a desert region, people naturally assume that the temperature is hot there. But even in summer the temperature is low during certain periods. People consider it appropriate to visit Kutch at that time. As it is geographically the largest district of Gujarat, there are lot of places to visit during summer.

These places include Lyari Riverbed, Kutch Desert Sanctuary, Mamai Dev Kalia Dhro, Narayan Sarovar, Smritivan Earthquake Memorial Museum, Koteshwar Mahadev Temple, Hamirsar Lake, Mandvi Beach, Pingleshwar Beach, Surkotda Indus Valley Civilization, Lakhpat Fort, Dholavira, Rann of Kutch and Kalo Dungar.

6) Somnath (Gir Somnath)

Somnath in Gir Somnath district is a great place. The Somnath temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlings of Lord Shiva, and this temple is located on the coast therefore you can enjoy the sea along with the darshan of Lord Shiva. And you can also go to see the cave of five Pandavas. It is dedicated to Mother Hinglaj Devi – the clan goddess of the Pandavas. Dehotsarga Tirtha is the place where Lord Krishna gave up his body. Apart from this, there are many places to visit near Somnath.

7) Polo Forest (Sabarkantha)

Polo Forest in Sabarkantha district is a less explored place. Being a forested area, it offers a sense of calm and peaceful seclusion. The Parihara kings of Idar are believed to have founded the ancient Polo City across the river Harnao in the 10th century. The Rathore Rajputs of Marwar conquered it in the 15th century, and its name is derived from the Marwari word Pol. Which means “gate”. Being a forested area, it feels very cool even in summer.

8) Zanzari Waterfall (Aravalli)

Zhanzari Falls is located on the banks of Vatrak river near Dabha village. It is about 12 km from Bayad city. There is also a temple of Mother Ganga at this place where Shiva is anointed 24 hours by the spring. Mostly tourists come here from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Mehsana. The water erodes the hard rock below the waterfall, causing it to fill in the pit inside the rock. It is very fun to visit such a place in summer when it is scorching hot.
