People also call the fruit growing on that tree Bilva. Its scientific name is Aegle marmelos. Other names like Bela, Sirfal, Golden Apple, Holy Fruit, etc. are also known for it.
Suitable land
Bilva is a tree that can easily grow in any soil and in any climate with little water. People can grow Bilva even in the land where no other tree can grow in India. Most of the times this tree is found in Shiva temple.
Plant care
Bilva Plants should be watered as needed according to local soil conditions. The plant requires very little fertilizer. These plants are prone to zinc deficiency. And as a result the leaves start turning yellow. In such a situation zinc sulphate and lime water should be sprayed.

Harvest the fruit when the leaves start to fall and the color of the fruit begins to change. At that time the fruits are fully ripe. The fruits do not spoil for one to two weeks after harvesting. The tree fruits become almost leafless at maturity.

Bilva fruit contains nutrients like water, protein, fat, carbohydrate, carotene. Its leaves, bark and roots contain various useful chemicals such as alkaloids, steroids, thiamine, riboflavin and vitamin C.
