Birth and family life

Shinzo Abe was born on 21 September 1954 into a prominent political family in Tokyo, Japan. He died on 8 July 2022 at the age of 67.

His father is Shintaro Abe and mother Yoko Abe. His family had considerable economic influence in Japan before and after World War II.

Education of Shinzo Abe

He attended Seikei Junior and Senior High Schools as well as Seikei Elementary School. Shinzo Abe did his further studies in public administration.

He then received a Bachelor of Political Science degree from Seikei University in 1977. Shinzo Abe immigrated to the United States and studied public policy at the School of Policy, Planning and Development at the University of Southern California.

He started working at Kobe Steel in April 1979, and left the organization in 1982.

Worked at different posts in Govt

He held many different positions in the government. Among them were the Executive Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Private Secretary to the Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Private Secretary to the Chairperson of the LDP General Council.

Family Life

Abe married Aki Matsuzuki in 1987. She is a high profile woman and former radio DJ. She has earned the nickname of the “Domestic Opposition Party” for her outspoken views, which are quite different from those of her husband, Shinzo Abe. Shinzo Ambe and Matsuzuki are childless.

Politics

Shinzo Abe was elected to Japan’s House of Representatives in 1993. He became the Director of the Health and Welfare Committee in 1999. He served as Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in 2000 and 2003. In 2005, he became the Chief Secretary of the LDP.

Longest tenure as Prime Minister

In 2006, He became the Prime Minister of Japan for the first time. In 2017, Shinzo Abe won a resounding election victory and became Prime Minister again. He was the longest serving Prime Minister of Japan.

Assassination of Shinzo Abe

He died on July 8, 2022. A man named Tetsuya Yamagami, assassinated Abe while he was campaigning for the next election. He was rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. But he died prematurely during the treatment.
